Description: An impressive antique Australian silky oak dining table by renowned Brisbane furniture manufacturer Ed. Rosenstengel, displaying the substantial construction and decorative cabinetmaking associated with quality early 20th-century Australian furniture.
The table features a generously proportioned rectangular top with a rich, dark stained finish, showcasing the attractive grain and texture of Australian silky oak. A beautifully carved border runs along the edges of the tabletop, providing an elegant decorative finish.
Of particular interest are the substantial square legs, each featuring elaborate carved acanthus leaf and scrolling foliate decoration on the upper sections, with further carved detailing extending to the feet. The depth and quality of the carving give the table a distinctive architectural presence.
The substantial timber apron beneath the tabletop incorporates traditional moulded detailing, complementing the bold proportions and decorative character of the table.
A fine example of Australian antique furniture, this Rosenstengel dining table would make an impressive centrepiece in a traditional dining room. Its rich timber tones and substantial proportions also allow it to sit comfortably within interiors combining antique and contemporary furnishings.
The table is particularly desirable when paired with the matching set of six Ed Rosenstengel silky oak dining chairs, also available separately, creating an impressive Australian antique dining suite.
