Description: An antique Australian ladies' pedestal writing desk, featuring a traditional nine-drawer arrangement, a leather-inset writing surface, and classic turned timber drawer knobs. The desk has three drawers across the upper apron, with a further three drawers in each pedestal, providing generous storage for stationery, documents and personal belongings.
The leather writing surface is framed by a polished timber border, while the drawers feature keyhole escutcheons and traditional moulded fronts. The two pedestals stand on plinth bases fitted with castors, retaining the practical details associated with antique writing furniture.
An appealing feature of this desk is its three-piece construction, with the top section separating from the two pedestals for easier transportation and positioning. Its compact proportions make it particularly suitable for a home office, study or bedroom, offering the character of antique Australian furniture without requiring the space of a larger partner's desk.
