Description: A lovely antique English oak bureau with a compact form, attractive panelled front and beautifully figured timber throughout. The fall front opens to create a generous writing surface and reveals a fitted interior with a series of pigeonholes and two small drawers, providing ample storage for correspondence and stationery.
Below are four panelled drawers arranged in two rows, each fitted with decorative brass drop handles and shaped backplates. Carved vertical details between the drawers complement the simple geometric decoration to the fall front.
The bureau is raised on turned legs joined by shaped stretchers, giving the piece a lighter appearance than many traditional pedestal bureaus. The warm, dark oak and restrained carved detailing give it plenty of character without making it overly ornate.
A very useful smaller writing desk that offers both a practical workspace and good storage. When closed, the fall front keeps everything neatly tucked away, making it particularly suitable for a study, living room, hallway or bedroom where a full-sized desk may take up too much space.
