Description: A beautiful antique Buckley and Nunn, Melbourne, Australian walnut sideboard with a wonderfully decorative combination of figured timber, marble and carved detailing. The piece is topped with a substantial grey-veined marble surface, providing a practical and attractive contrast to the warm walnut below.
The raised mirror back is particularly impressive, featuring a central rectangular mirror flanked by smaller shaped mirrors, carved panels and a striking fan-shaped pediment with carved scroll detail. Dentil moulding along the upper edge adds another layer of traditional decoration.
The base offers excellent storage, with three drawers at the top, a central double-door cupboard, and cupboards on either side. The figured walnut drawer and door fronts are complemented by decorative metal handles and escutcheons. Turned feet with castors complete the piece.
With its generous marble surface, extensive storage and elaborate mirrored back, this is a wonderful statement sideboard for a dining room, entrance hall or larger living space.
