Description: A beautiful and substantial antique chest of drawers with wonderful flame mahogany figuring across the drawer fronts and an impressive architectural presence.
The chest has two smaller drawers across the top with three generous full-width drawers below, providing plenty of practical storage. Each drawer is fitted with turned timber knobs with decorative central inserts and individual keyholes.
What appears at first glance to be a deep rounded moulding running across the top is actually a cleverly concealed secret drawer. When closed, it blends seamlessly with the chest's design and provides little indication that additional storage is hidden within. It is a wonderful feature and one that makes this chest particularly interesting.
Carved foliate details decorate the front uprights, with further carved decoration towards the base and small turned feet completing the design.
The flame mahogany is particularly beautiful, with sweeping grain patterns and colour variations across the drawer fronts. Combined with the secret drawer and carved detailing, it gives this chest far more character than an ordinary set of drawers.
A wonderfully decorative antique chest offering generous storage, beautiful timber and the added surprise of a hidden compartment.
